Changes of Tissue Iron in the Various Organs After Prolonged High Dietary Iron Administration in Guinea Pigs


Abstract
The changes of tissue iron distribution patterns of the various organs were studies after dietary administration of ferous and ferric iron, 100 mg. per day per 500 gm. of body weight, during 40 days in guinea pigs.
The results of experiment are summerized as follows:
The significant increase of non-hemin iron in the spleen and intestine are observed.
There is no specificity between ferous and ferric iron in the manner of abscrption and storage.
